21 Months Old!

Nora Jane is 21 months old. In honor of this momentous occasion Nora Jane and I went out to lunch and to the park today. Nora Jane even sat in a big girl chair. She also insisted on pushing her own stroller. Later she got to steer the SS Mountainview.

Time flies while your having fun folks. Occasionally when she is sick or grumpy Nora Jane still clings to me like she is just my little baby. But most of the time I'm aware that she has turned into quit the little person. I know most people wax nostalgic about their tiny babies, but I have to say Nora Jane is just so much fun (ok and sometimes a bit challenging) these days that I really can't imagine her any other way. I love that she can tell me what she is thinking - I don't love it when her thoughts are George on TV, more cookies or NO, but I really do love being able to communicate with her. Today in the car we sang Old MacDonald and it was amazing how many animals and sounds she knew, granted our MacDonald has lions, tigers, bears, teddy bears, giraffes and elephants on his farm, but we got all the farm animals too. Nora Jane has a giant personality and is very clearly her own little person, her daddy and I marvel at where this strawberry blond bundle of non-stop movement came from. She is incredibly energetic and is starting to really get into climbing and hanging off of things. She is getting fiercely independent - she has been picking most of her own clothes for the last few weeks and trying desperately to put them on. Today we went to a new park and Nora Jane insisted on pushing her doll on her stroller rather than letting me push her. Nora Jane has named this particular doll Jane and she is her favorite. She is also a bit bossy (another mom at the playground today called it managerial, which is maybe a better spin), one of her favorite expressions is "come on (fill in the blank with Jane or whichever one of her friends she is playing with), come on" in an attempt to get them to do whatever she is doing at the moment. She is a lover of spicy foods Mexican and Indian. She is not a lover of vegetables, but we are working on it. She has her own musical taste a current favorite is Lady Gaga and will often shout "different song" until I play one that suits her mood. She knows more words than I can bother counting and speaks in sentences. She loves to rough house and give hugs and kisses to mommy and daddy and her friends. Her memory is amazing. She recognizes most of the people she has ever met when she looks at their pictures and often mentions things or people we haven't seen in quite a while. Not to brag, but we think she's pretty terrific.
